Rewind - ep 1 Coorg

Thing is, I like hi-speed shots with echoey soundscapes and reverb-heavy SFX. It might not be very popular in the branded content domain, but very soon it will be, thanks to me.

Until then, I'm going to make do with having these made for myself to put up on my personals.

Everything is so fast these days. Like reels compressing 5 days into 5 seconds is appreciated. What's the big hurry? Why shoviuldn't it be the opposite?

With Rewind, events are going to be stretched out. The effect of each moment is going to be spread out across multiple seconds.

I guess this phrase would describe it best - the emotion of each moment, amplified.

Kind of marketing-y, but eh... been in this industry 10+ years... whaddaya expect.

Giorgio Moroder

Where has this gentleman (and his sublime music) been all this while? Why am I only just discovering him?

Worked out that I never went ahead with releasing this nu-disco album. Giorgio Moroder's work is a treasure trove of inspiration.

Like 74 is the new 24. What a name lol. 35 is the new 18. Toxic Disco. AALAP's theme. Like Giorgio's theme. Fucking genius.

Anyway, so soon after discovering the genius of Mr Moroder, suddenly I'm able to make music once again. Thrashed out a 4-hour stretch on Ableton yesterday, and most of it was productive.

I love what Mr Moroder has to say about music. Harmonies, scales, etc are all theory. In music, you're meant to break the rules.

Note to self: go with the flow. See what sounds good. Be mindful. Keep coming back.

Give it one (more) shot. Go on.

UWM - 4 films on vaccination

It's been a super hectic two weeks, shooting back to back for UWM.

First two days all across Karjat, the 3rd and 4th day here in Wadala, Kurla and Goregaon, and the last two days across Yeoor, Kalwa and Thane.

First off, I never thought about just how many tribal villages there are in Karjat. I mean, it's a district that falls smack in between Mumbai and Pune, two of the state's largest cities. And yet there's hordes of tribal people in all these villages, people with very little access and information.

Some context: we're shooting a bunch of factuals to highlight vaccination efforts carried out by brands in some of these areas. The brands include Coca-Cola Foundation, Google India, Federal Bank and HSBC Bank.

And so our job was mainly to go around talking to people about the vaccination drives and build a narrative that showed how these brands had helped spread awareness and facilitate vaccination efforts across a bunch of areas.

Spoke to lots of people and did easily over 150 interviews. And we've just begun putting together all the video and audio on the timeline, and it's piecing together well.

One of the films is supposed to have footage from across India that we're not shooting. That's going to be a challenge, getting the UWM teams to shoot remotely.

Anyway, more when the films are out :).
