Panicking a night before the shoot, making this shot breakdown on my phone:
Thunder and rainfall - shots of the streets during a heavy downpour
Music starts - shots of the cafe door opening and Darshan entering wearing a coat, looking dishevelled, sits down at the end of the first bar of piano arpeggio
Beginning of second bar of arpeggio waiter sets down two cups of coffee on the table, Darshan stares at the cup
"Ab phirse..." 1st time - performance part 1, lights come on and he starts singing
"Ab phirse..." 2nd time - darshan back in the coffee shop, is looking at the empty seat across from him, still in shock, a tear rolling down his cheek, looking around the empty cafe, taking out a rose from his coat pocket and placing it in the empty flower vase on the table... at "Teri yaad" the camera starts going 180
"Ab phirse..." 3rd time (loud) - the 180 on the other side, it's daytime now, the waiter keeps two cups of coffee on their table, and Darshan leans over and changes the position of the mug...blushing, the girl smiles, and mimes 'thank you' and Darshan blinks his eyes as if to say anytime. He suddenly remembers he got a rose for her, and goes into his jacket pocket and fishes out a rose and hands it to her. She's a little surprised, and, still blushing, leans over to take the rose...then places it in the empty flower vase between them.
At the first "hmm" (1:25) it cuts to Darshan's performance, a track shot left to right, cutting to a close up of his face, at 1:30 it cuts back to the cafe where he and the girl are laughing hysterically about something when the waiter comes back and hands her a printout of her e-ticket and she thanks him, suddenly remembering she has to leave. Darshan's face suddenly falls, he's not happy to let her go.
At 1:40 she hurriedly collects her backpack, and gets up from her chair while Darshan is still seated, looking at her. She walks up next to him, and pulls him up, and he reluctantly gets up and immediately embraces her. At "tum gaye" the camera's tracking back as the girl's walking away out of frame, her hand slowly slipping out of Darshan's. Fade to the performance.
Performance till 2:03.
At 2:03 we see him in his hotel room reading a message from the girl saying she's returned, and wants to see him at the same place in an hour, he's super happy and gets ready to go to the cafe
At 2:17 he enters the cafe, sits on their usual table, the waiter keeps two coffees on their table and Darshan thanks him, then leans forward to perfectly place the cup like his girl likes it. At "mannatein meri" he notices the TV screen and people crowding around it, he gets up and goes closer. At the tingle, he reads, 'Flight coming in from Delhi to Mumbai has crashed, all passengers feared dead.'
Cut to a close up of him at 'Ab phirse' looking devastated...he sits back in his chair. Fade to -
'Ab phirse' 2nd time - he's in the present day, standing by the glass pane looking down, and as he looks up he sees a reflection of the girl in it, smiling at him. He turns right around and sees no one. Shuts his eyes.
'Ab phirse' 3rd time (loud) - opens his eyes, and we've cut to a close up of him performing the song.
At 3:10 the girl appears from behind him in a wide shot, and comes slowly into focus as she walks up to him from behind. He's singing the last 'mujhko', and raises his right hand in the air... the girl slightly brushes his shoulder with her left hand and, turning around, walks away as he's trying to hold her, the exact same frame as the previous time she went away as he's singing 'aayegi...'
He sings the last "hmmm", and the camera zooms in on his face, his eyes closed, and from 3:26 to 3:30 the lights slowly go out.
